Dear Chamber Member:
I again look forward to serving the Warwick business community as your Chamber President. Chamber membership continues to grow steadily with over 360 chamber members and I am anticipating working with a talented and enthusiastic Board of Directors. The Chamber has enjoyed many program successes such as Applefest, a Taste of Warwick, and the introduction of the Warwick Partnership over the years, but there is more to be accomplished.
Increasing taxes and rents pose an extraordinary burden on both residents and business owners. Development of a broad town-wide economic development plan to attract commercial growth and development can help reduce the burden. Attracting desirable businesses, accelerating the approval process, and reducing development expenses can stimulate economic development. Hopefully, the Chamber can be instrumental in achieving these goals.
The Village of Warwick’s Merchants Guild is in need of revitalization. Greenwood Lake, Pine Island and Florida are important Town of Warwick partners and deserve more of the Chamber’s attention. Greenwood Lake, for example, possesses incredible potential for turnaround and economic growth. I hope to increase the Chamber’s role in serving all of our “Main Street” communities.
Most important, however, is increasing the role of our membership at large. We are looking for committee members to serve on our Economic Development Committee, Government Affairs Committee, and Events Committee. If you are interested in serving, please contact Michael A. Johndrow, our Executive Director at Chamber Headquarters. Participation on a committee is critical to your investment as a Chamber Member. Your contribution toward the work of the Chamber will pay dividends. Service on the various committees is also an important first step in the Board of Directors selection process. Your financial investment in the Chamber is appreciated (thank you for your dues)– but take full advantage of your investment and get involved (please)!
