The Board of Trustees of the Albert Wisner Board Library has appointed Amanda Tarallo and Colleen Larsen to fill vacancies on the board.
Donna Applegate and Jerry Benedetto retired from the board after many years of service.
Their valuable and lasting contributions to the library will benefit the community for years to come. The board commends and thanks them for their dedicated service to the library and the community.
Amanda Tarallo is a practicing attorney residing in Warwick for the past three years. She is currently employed by Legal Services of the Hudson Valley in the Domestic Violence Unit.
“I believe the Library should be a community center, Tarallo said in the press release announcing her appointment. “I remember my own mother taking me to the library when I was a young child and loving the time we spent there.
“It should be a place where people gather for study and resources, but a library can be so much more than that,” she added. “It’s a great place for social activities and community programs.”
Colleen Larsen is no stranger to the library or the board. She has been an active member of the Friends of the Library, serving as president for the past 10 years.
She has lived in Warwick for 26 years. She is a registered nurse and works with the Orange County Department of Health as a Consulting Epidemiologist.
With the Friends, Larsen was instrumental in the growth of the library from a small building on Main Street to its present location on McFarland Avenue.
She said she believes that currently the library does an excellent job serving as the cornerstone of our community. “It is clear why the Library was selected as the Best Small Library in America,” Larsen added.
Her goal for the future is that “the Library should continue to provide this outstanding level of Library services and have the ability to adapt to changing community demographics and needs.”
