Donations will be accepted Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shop Sunday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the basketball court.

Sustainable Warwick hosts reuse event on April 22-23

The Village of Warwick spring trash pick-up is approaching. Time to clean out that attic, garage or basement and discard what you no longer need.

But can someone else use your “stuff?”

Sustainable Warwick is hosting the “Too Good To Toss” event at Stanley Deming Park on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23.

It is designed to encourage reuse and community spirit as well as reducing the cost of hauling trash to a Pennsylvania landfill.

This one-stop shopping also beats driving around the village on trash pick-up week to search for salvageable treasures.

Pop-up recycle centerThe event, sponsored to celebrate Earth Day and assisted by the village, will feature a pop-up recycle center with tables under a tent on the basketball court.

Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is reserved for people dropping off items to donate.

Sunday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is “shopping day” when people can browse the free items and select those they would like to “adopt.”

‘Have’ and ‘Want’ boardsPeople who don’t donate goods, but would like to participate, can list their items and/or services along with their contact information on “Have” and “Want” boards.

All items dropped off must be clean, in good repair and full working order, including all their parts.

Local organizations such as Christ Church Thrift Shop, Pine Island Hope Chest and The Alamo will be invited to pick up leftover items on Sunday evening.

Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Bridgeport, Conn., will send a truck Monday morning to pick up leftover items if they are boxed/bagged.

The village DPW crew will pick up whatever is left behind.

For more information or to volunteer to help with Too Good To Toss, contact Elizabeth Knight at eknight@teawithfriends.com or 845-544-1056.
