The Hudson Valley Performing Arts Foundation presented $2,500 to Hudson Valley Honor Flight and The Committee for the Families of War Veterans at the symphony’s POPS concert in Warwick on July 13.

The funds were raised at the foundation’s silent auction held April 3 at the New York Wind Symphony Veterans Benefit Concert.

Each group received $1,250.

The donations were presented by Dan Chester, HVPAF president, and Brett Wing, executive vice president of ShopRite Supermarkets, the symphony’s season title sponsor, to Bill Skennion, Vice chairman of Hudson Valley Honor Flight and Dan O’Kane, president, and Christine Little from The Committee for the Families of War Veterans.

The New York Wind Symphony ended its concert program with a stirring Armed Forces Medley followed by “America the Beautiful.”

The capacity audience stood during the playing of “American the Beautiful” and continued a warmly received standing ovation at its ending.
