More than $2 million has been donated to veterans service organizations in the last seven years

ShopRite Supermarkets Inc. recently concluded its 2015 Veterans Campaign with the seventh annual Recognizing Our Veterans celebration and awards ceremony hosted at Crystal Springs Resort in Vernon, N.J.

The top 10 fund-raising stores were recognized for their efforts in front of a standing room only audience comprised of their colleagues, veterans, and ShopRite supporters.

More than $500,000 was raised during the three month campaign, bringing ShopRite’s seven year cumulative total to more than $2.1 million raised for veterans support organizations in the Hudson Valley and Capital Region.

‘We live here’

The success of the campaign relies on the collaborative efforts and generosity of ShopRite customers, store associates and vendors, the company said in the press release announcing the results of the campaign. In addition to funds collected through voluntary customer donations made at check out, store associates lead a variety of fund-raising efforts including car washes, hot dog sales, pancake breakfasts, food drives, and raffles.

“ShopRite believes in giving back to the communities we serve, especially those who serve our communities,” said Tom Urtz, vice president of operations for ShopRite Supermarkets. “Like our customers, we live here, work here, and raise our families here – we believe in being good corporate neighbors. It is the generosity of our customers and associates that make these efforts possible.”

Beneficiary organizations of the 2015 Veterans Campaign are:

The Tower of Hope.
The Orange County Veterans Food Pantry.

The Committee for the Families of Iraqi War Veterans.

Unified Military Affairs Council.

Hudson Valley Honor Flight.
