Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1, those teal colored ribbons throughout the Village of Warwick will be replaced by pink ribbons. Rain or shine, the second annual Pink Friday, a celebration to support the battle against breast cancer, will take place on Friday evening, Oct. 11, from 3 to 9 p.m. Pink Friday is again sponsored by the Bon Secours Charity Health System and the beneficiary is Miles of Hope, a nonprofit charity that funds support services and outreach for people affected by breast cancer in the eight counties of the Hudson Valley. Pink Friday is the brainchild of Tim Mullally, co-owner and operator of two clothing retail stores in Warwick – Style Counsel and Blue.
Besides the many shops and eateries participating in Pink Friday that are offering special discounts, promotions and other “freebies,” there will also be several dozen street vendors up and DJ Steve Regan will provide music to dance the night away. Participating shops and restaurants will be donating a percentage of the day’s proceeds to Miles of Hope The festive as well as educational event, organized by the Warwick Merchants Guild, will include late night shopping, in store promotions, street vendors, music and dancing, food samplings, wine tasting, fitness demonstrations, massages and make overs, henna tattoos and eyebrow threading. Local hair salons will be providing the make overs and eyebrow threading. The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 2004 to fund support services for people affected by breast cancer in the Hudson Valley. The mission of the Foundation is to fund support services and outreach for people affected by breast cancer within the eight counties including Orange County.
